What This Hydrofoil Does

The hydrofoil mounts directly onto the anti-ventilation plate of your outboard motor. As the boat accelerates, the wing-shaped blades generate downward lift force on the stern, which raises the bow and pushes the hull into a planing attitude faster than it would reach on its own. Once on plane, the hull rides higher with less drag, which reduces fuel consumption and increases top speed. The fins also suppress porpoising and bow-steering in rough water, keeping the boat tracking straight and stable at speed. Before installation, the bow rides high and speed builds slowly. After installation, the hull planes out quickly and runs efficiently at a flatter, faster angle.

The Problem It Solves

Underpowered or heavily loaded boats struggle to get on plane, burning excessive fuel during the slow acceleration phase and never reaching efficient cruising speed. Boats that do reach plane often porpoise or wander in chop, requiring constant steering correction and creating an uncomfortable ride. Cavitation around the propeller causes erosion and reduces thrust efficiency. This hydrofoil addresses all three issues simultaneously: it accelerates planing, stabilizes the running attitude, and reduces cavitation by improving water flow around the lower unit. The result is a boat that gets on plane faster, runs smoother, and burns less fuel per mile without any engine modification.

Design Details

The blade profile is modeled on the wing geometry of eagles in flight, a shape optimized by nature for generating lift with minimal drag. The surface is finished with a water-ripple texture applied through a specialized process that maintains consistent hydrodynamic performance across varying water conditions and speeds. Mounting hardware is 316 stainless steel, which provides stronger corrosion resistance than the more common 304 grade and effectively prevents galvanic corrosion where the hardware contacts the outboard's lower unit.
